Basic Red Salsa
I adore salsas. It never ceases to amaze me the varying flavors I can get out of the same few ingredients in different ratios. This salsa is a very basic raw salsa that can be whipped up super fast for use as a condiment or as a recipe component.
The directions indicate that you can toss everything into the blender or food processor, which you can, and your results will look very much like this picture. If I’m not in a super hurry, I prefer to take the extra step of grating my tomato on the box grater because the end product is not as airy/bubbly.
Ingredients
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 jalapeno (or more, or use serranos, depending on your heat preference), chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1/2 cup loosely packed fresh cilantro, chopped
- juice from 1 or more limes, to taste
- salt, to taste
- ground black pepper, to taste
- water, a bit for processing to desired texture
Directions
Toss everything into the blender or food processor and pulse until the salsa is the desired texture. Taste and adjust seasonings. Serve.
